Dr. Leslie Smith is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties. She attended Duke University on a full scholarship for her undergraduate studies then received the UNC Board of Governor's Scholarship to attend East Carolina University, where she received her medical degree. She is active with the UNC Jaycee Burn Center Advisory Board and with the Boone Sunrise Rotary Club.
In addition to her professional career, Dr. Smith is a dog lover and has four unruly rescue dogs - Bubba, Annie, Danny Boy and Chloe. She also loves the mountains and has lived in the Boone high country for over 12 years.
Steve and Vicki Kenyon are the business managers for Compassionate Care. You will find Steve behind the scenes working on those sticky insurance claims. He is also in charge of personnel, billing, contracts and the overall operations of the practice. Sometimes you will even find him filling in as receptionist.
Vicki is our payroll manager and pays the bills to keep a roof over our heads and the lights on. She and Steve have been married for more than 20 years and enjoy spending time with the grand kids. You will also find them at the Moose Lodge or at the VFW playing table shuffle board.
Lena is a native of Ashe County and has been Dr. Smith's medical assistant for a very long time. She is trained as a respiratory therapist and is a very talented phlebotomist - hitting the tiniest of veins with ease! She is very good at keeping Dr. Smith on schedule, keeping medical supplies stocked and handling all the referrals, x-rays, CT scans and MRI's that Dr. Smith orders for you.
